Welcome Back!

 Welcome to our class blog! I will try to keep this blog updated with important events and keep you up to date on what is going on in the classroom. I will also send out emails periodically to inform you of events. If the office does not have your current email, please get it to them so I can add you to my email list. If you feel that maybe I did not get your email (like I never did reply :-)) Check your email and your spam/junk box. Our email filter may have sent you an email asking you to confirm that you meant to send an email to me. Once you do this it will allow the email to be delivered to me. Please don't ever hesitate to get ahold of me with questions or concerns. I check my email regularly, and you can call me at the school 237-4742. Also, please feel free to come and visit our classroom any time. You are always welcome!

Back to school night is coming up September 6th. It's a great time for us to explain the homework and get to meet each of you. Information on back to school night and the school carnival came home in your child's Friday Folder. Here is a quick summary of when your child should have homework.

Each week your child will bring home homework. On Monday and Thursday nights they will bring home a phonics reader in a Ziploc bag. They are to read the phonics reader to you three times. You need to sign the form and send it back to school in the baggie. The phonics reader should be sent back also.

On Tuesday and Wednesday nights a fluency reading will be sent home. This will be the reading from the story we are reading that week. Time you child for 1 minute on the passage and count the words they read correctly. Record the words read on their graph and send it all back to school the next day in the blue fluency folder.

On Friday they will bring home their Friday Folder. It is divided into two parts: Keep and Homework/Return to School. There will be two homework sheets each week. One will be a Language Arts paper and the other will be a Math paper. Please send these back to school in the Friday Folder on Monday. Keep any of the papers on the keep side.

The spelling lists that came home on Friday are for the next six weeks. There will be a pretest on Wednesdays and a final test on Fridays.

***We do have a student with a peanut allergy in our class. Please do not send in any treats that have peanuts, peanut butter, or are packaged or processed in a plant that handles peanuts. It will say on the back of the box/bag if it was processed in a plant that handles peanuts. Thank you in advance for making sure our classroom is a safe place for everyone!***
